From forest parks to scenic reserves, alpine areas to protected coasts, there are hundreds of special conservation places.

Golden Bay

Known for its stunning scenery and natural areas, the Golden Bay area, features a number of tracks including the Abel Tasman Inland Track. Farewell Spit and Puponga Farm Park are other area highlights.

West Coast region

The West Coast boasts two kiwi sanctuaries, five national parks, two wilderness areas and a World Heritage area. Popular places to visit include Punakaiki Pancake Rocks and Blowhole and Franz Josef Glacier.

Motueka

The Motueka area encompasses Mt Richmond Forest Park, the southern part of Abel Tasman National Park, and the mountainous headwaters of the Karamea and Motueka rivers which form part of Kahurangi National Park.

Nelson Lakes

St Arnaud is the gateway to Nelson Lakes National Park. You can walk to Lake Angelus or take the Travers Sabine Circuit.

Marlborough region
