There are extensive walking and mountain biking opportunities on conservation land throughout New Zealand.

Buller

There are a number of excellent walks and tracks available in the Buller area including the short walkway out to Punakaiki Rocks, the Cape Foulwind Walkway and tracks located in the Oparara Basin.

Nelson/Tasman region

The Nelson/Tasman region offers visitors an array of walking and tramping experiences, including two of New Zealand's Great Walks - the Abel Tasman Coast Track and the Heaphy Track.

Marlborough region

Explore some of the walks and tracks found in the Marlborough region, including the Queen Charlotte Track, Molesworth Station tramping tracks and the Kaikoura Peninsula Walkway.

Canterbury region

Walking tracks from Aoraki Mount Cook Village, Arthur's Pass day walks, the Mueller Hut Route and many other tracks and walks in the Canterbury region.

Greymouth

The area boasts a wide variety of tracks both short and long. Highlights include the Croesus Track and Point Elizabeth Walkway near Greymouth, and a significant number of historic goldmining tracks around Reefton.

Hokitika

In the Hokitika area there are many short walks for people who are passing through with only a few hours to spare, as well as a variety of tramps for the more adventurous.

Glaciers

Walk to the terminal face of the Franz Josef Glacier, easily acess the dynamic glacial environment of Fox Glacier, take a walk at Okarito Lagoon or scramble up Canavans Knob within the Glaciers area of the West Coast.
